Rebecca Galloway: Keeping time: Dance archiving adventures in North America
Tuesday November 19th, 11:17am-11:32am @ Soundings Theatre
Dance archiving means being an advocate for a fragile, fleeting artform. In the absence of the dance itself, we collect and archive photographs, video, sculptures, costumes, musical scores - all kinds of objects and ephemera. This presentation will tell the story of two key dance archives in North America; Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts and Dance Collection Danse based in Toronto, Canada, touching on issues such as archive-as-edutainment, copyright and repertoire royalties, cultural APIs and user personas.
