Mark Crookston: A Pacific Virtual Museum: Connecting diverse and dispersed people with taonga
uesday November 19th, 11:00am-11:15am @ Soundings Theatre
During 2018 a range of emerging and experienced Library leaders from around the Pacific, New Zealand and Australia came together to form the Pacific Libraries Network. We developed a statement of intent and a strategic plan, designed to strengthen the network and to highlight key areas of collaboration that would deliver outcomes that connect the work of Pacific libraries to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
One activity in the strategic plan is to develop an online portal for Pacific taonga. This presentation outlines the thinking and plans behind the Pacific Virtual Museum concept, within the context of the Pacific Libraries Network, how it may connect diverse and dispersed people with dispersed taonga, and the important roles the institutions of Aotearoa may play in helping it succeed.
